Miss Lillie

Some of you may know Miss Lillie had emergency surgery approximately 45 days ago. She had a malignant cancer in her intestine which was removed along with 4 of 12 glands and a colostomy performed. The cancer doctor says the surgeon got all the cancer and she will not need chemo. She will be monitored by monthly blood analysis. If she needs chemo in the future it will be a pill taken 2 weeks and off 1 week with no loss of hair, sickness and other side effects of chemo. Miss Lillie was very upbeat with this news and we all went out and had a fish sandwich with fries. She is at home and doing very well. Cooks rarely, cleans and points likes she always has..it is really remarkable. Karen is tending and keeping eye on things from a distance.

Karen

Karen has been aggravated with the shoulder surgery for a while now. Mainly the bone build up on the plate which is very painful. She went to another otho in Chattanooga to see and was told would need to take the plate out to fix. Well since the plate is glued in ... good luck. So she has not said much about  getting attention for the problem

Me

Labs still look good, aches and pains prevail but who's gripping....don't ask my wife please. Go to Arkansas first week of August...praying for good things.

SIDENOTES AND VICIOUS RUMORS

  • Why does it take a billion dollars to run for President in this country by both candidates...that's 2 billion dollars. I don't get it.
  • Been checking into my genealogy lately ... seems my great great great grandmother on some side of the family was never married back in the 18 hundreds .. rumor has it a wealthy train tycoon building the railroad at the time ate several dinners at the house. Sounds good anyway. Similarly, on another side of the family my great great great great grandfather rode with Teddy Roosevelt in Florida chasing the Seminole indians. In 1862 he joined the confederate Calvary at the age of 72, along with his 4 sons. All the sons, one of which is my great great great grandaddy all made it back, thankfully ...but Old Mige did not. All that can be said from my view is he must have liked to fight  alot.
  • well time for a wine review .. today is a Stefano Farina Italia (that's Italy) Barbera d' Alba 2008 ... nice bottle, lovely appearance, fragrant with a hit of sea salt and sand. (sounds like a girl on the beach) Not bad for 11 bucks. I give it an 88 MAF

Cheers and keep positive thoughts when at all possible.

Karen has really been complaining with her shoulder hurting for last 2 weeks. Several family members have suggested I take her back to surgeon in Bham. I knew she would need to make that call as she is very independent. So yesterday, Monday,  was the bell south call to the bull pen. She called the Doc in Bham and appt was set for 3:30. I had chemo appt in Chattanooga. Therefore, I blitzed on up to nooga, had the chemo blast (do love the smell of chemo in the morning) and picked Karen up on way back and headed to Bham.

    Results:

Xray showed the operation was a total success and all was well with that part. Bone scar tissue has built up where the break occurred. This build up has created a rough spot coupled with the nerves coming back has made this very uncomfortable. The Doc said you scared me about coming down here on  emergency type appt and Karen said yes I was the one scared and hurting.

Doc told her to leave off the rehab which was making things more tender. Also told her she could do anything she wished at this point and would not need to come back to see him, She is released from care. Good news all way around...she was much relieved!!!

We both had felt she would need some sort of surgical adjustment based on the pain and bump. But we worried for nothing. Kind of like life..90% of what we worry about never happens

Well it seems the economy is doing fine .. must be an election year. Or it could be Karen and I are at some form of medicals services outlet ie; doctors, dentists, surgeons, orthodontists, obgyn, emergency rooms, pediatricians, primary care providers, oncologists, heart specialists, labcorps and general practitioners.

Not to mention as our President Cesar says, "BIG OIL" in my tank as we travel to these sites mentioned above. No wonder gas is so high. Speaking of which, as much whining that goes on about gas prices... the roads are packed with traffic...not talking about going to and fro work ...talking about all day and night non stop traffic all 7 days of the week. The economy really is strange.

Me, the labs are still good and getting around very well.. now that Karen is released and the dog from hell is well,  may start back to the golfing routine,,,somebodys got to do it right!
No wine review as to early in the day.

    Cheers from Valleyhead

Karen checkup post surgery

Shoulder surgeon saw Karen for 2 week appt today.... said it looked real good....also shared with her what he had done.

The shoulder was broken but what we did not know was her ligaments and tendons were torn as well. This would explain the pain she has experienced. So what this means ... a very long recovery... 4 weeks at least in arm sling 24/7. Rehab will continue for 4 more weeks. She was hoping to be shed of it today but....
Please continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
