• Karen shoulder emergency visit

Karen has really been complaining with her shoulder hurting for last 2 weeks. Several family members have suggested I take her back to surgeon in Bham. I knew she would need to make that call as she is very independent. So yesterday, Monday,  was the bell south call to the bull pen. She called the Doc in Bham and appt was set for 3:30. I had chemo appt in Chattanooga. Therefore, I blitzed on up to nooga, had the chemo blast (do love the smell of chemo in the morning) and picked Karen up on way back and headed to Bham.

    Results:

Xray showed the operation was a total success and all was well with that part. Bone scar tissue has built up where the break occurred. This build up has created a rough spot coupled with the nerves coming back has made this very uncomfortable. The Doc said you scared me about coming down here on  emergency type appt and Karen said yes I was the one scared and hurting.

Doc told her to leave off the rehab which was making things more tender. Also told her she could do anything she wished at this point and would not need to come back to see him, She is released from care. Good news all way around...she was much relieved!!!

We both had felt she would need some sort of surgical adjustment based on the pain and bump. But we worried for nothing. Kind of like life..90% of what we worry about never happens

Well it seems the economy is doing fine .. must be an election year. Or it could be Karen and I are at some form of medicals services outlet ie; doctors, dentists, surgeons, orthodontists, obgyn, emergency rooms, pediatricians, primary care providers, oncologists, heart specialists, labcorps and general practitioners.

Not to mention as our President Cesar says, "BIG OIL" in my tank as we travel to these sites mentioned above. No wonder gas is so high. Speaking of which, as much whining that goes on about gas prices... the roads are packed with traffic...not talking about going to and fro work ...talking about all day and night non stop traffic all 7 days of the week. The economy really is strange.

Me, the labs are still good and getting around very well.. now that Karen is released and the dog from hell is well,  may start back to the golfing routine,,,somebodys got to do it right!
No wine review as to early in the day.

    Cheers from Valleyhead

Karen checkup post surgery

Shoulder surgeon saw Karen for 2 week appt today.... said it looked real good....also shared with her what he had done.

The shoulder was broken but what we did not know was her ligaments and tendons were torn as well. This would explain the pain she has experienced. So what this means ... a very long recovery... 4 weeks at least in arm sling 24/7. Rehab will continue for 4 more weeks. She was hoping to be shed of it today but....
Please continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Hello everyone,

Just met with the Doc and everything is still fine. He is pleased and said " you are almost finished".  He meant with treatments (I think). So I wanted to post asap, as many of you are anxious to hear.  STILL in remission!!!

Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers !!!!

SIDENOTES and VICIOUS RUMORS

  • Not really surprised Alabama beat LSU on the repeat ... what was surprising and quite an embarrassing moment for the school must be the post game interview with one of the Alabama players. I still do not know his name or what subject he spoke upon,. However, one can assure you he was NOT speaking the Kings English. Really a shame...where is he gonna work?? Maybe the TSA pat down line at the airport?
  • Once again the BCS is a farce. Alabama had 0 business playing for the national championship. As long as sports writers, coaches and committees continue to tell us who is # 1, then it will be a farce.  Kind of reminds me of the government.
  • continue to pray for our country...Obama care...we are finding what is really in it as we go. Nancy Pelosis's brilliant statement still rings in my ear, from the speaker of the house podium during the vote, "Just pass it and we will find out whats in it later." How right she was! This beat out Bill Clintons " it depends on what is, is."
Well enough... time for a wine rating. Just cracked open a bottle of Dolcetto di Diano d' Alba Stefina Farino to let it air. It is a light red wine with hints of lemon in the air. Wait that is my dishwasher detergent. Fragrant with a touch of grapeness. Good stuff for 10 bucks. Give it an 88 MAF

KAREN UPDATE

          "Busta"

Hi All,

Karen arrived home from her shoulder surgery around 9:30 pm. Had a fairly restfull night with ice packs and meds. She is doing fine today considering what has progressed. As most of you know, recovering form any surgery is a daily advance by steps. The rehab people in town will do some procedures this afternoon on the shoulder. Please remember her in your thoughts. She is a champ and very good patient.

I go to Little Rock Sunday to have 4 month tests with checkup. As always please pray this goes well.
