As it is said, you need to walk a mile in another man’s shoes to understand him.

Mark had a great report at the clinic for which we are so grateful. He had even lost a pound!! The day is beautiful, full of sunshine.

As we were waiting our turn with our friends from Panama City and commiserating swollen feet and family at home, an older gentleman we had met stopped by to chat.

He and his wife are from Wisconsin and she has been fighting this disease for 14 years (and 10 grandbabies). She is very proud of their babies. He saddened our hearts by saying that this is her last treatment, she can’t take any more chemo. I guess he was feeling alone and needed to talk. He told us he was laid off work last Sept and hasn’t been able to find a job. He said for every job there were about 200 applicants. Now their house is in foreclosure. He can’t pay for her medicine, insurance or even heating oil. They have exhausted their savings thinking he would get a job any day. He doesn’t know what he is going to do and hasn’t had help except from their church and friends. The financial aid folks don’t consider the cost ($500+ per month)of her medicine in their aide package, so they have been ineligible for help so far. He always has a smile on his face and a kind word, but I know he must be in anguish, not knowing how he is going to care for her. Our hearts are so burden by this couple’s trials. Please pray for them and ask God to grant them peace.

We are truly blessed.

Karen
