Day one with Mrs. Hall

Hello everyone,

Today - got labs drawn then on to the bone marrow biopsy then back to lab to be hooked to my carry chemo bag -.it will be my friend for the next 4 days ..Are we having fun yet!!

I have named the bag, “Mrs. Hall”, the best teacher ever ..except my mom. Mrs. Hall was the 3rd grade teacher. She made you stand in front of the class and recite all multiplication tables, division , etc and you could not sit down until you finished. We had many crying kids. They would put her in a penal colony in this day and age. She was a heavy woman (250 easy) and never smiled - she would pass for Alfred Hitchcock’s sister. Anyway, math has always been my strong suite in business and she is a big part of the reason.

With all this said , hauling “Mrs. Hall” around will be a strong reminder that you are not sitting down until you get it done…no excuses. Just do it!

We have met so many people from all walks of life with many different needs and situations. I have found that the person you are sitting next to may very well be in need. So a smile and kind word really goes to the heart.

The nurses and APN we met today are really great and truly care about your well being. They are top notch in my book and very good at what they do.

Unfortunately for my wine fans…I will not reviewing any wine for a few days…not on Doc’s menu of chemicals.

Much love,

Mark and Karen

Karen here:
Rain has stopped and we had a bit of sunshine - yea

I think Mark is on the hunt for the perfect BBQ - Linsey’s is still #1. I hope he continues to appreciate food as much as he does right now. The great attitude is still there and he is a source of entertainment to the nurses and other patients. One little lady stopped today on her way out of the clinic just to tell him she enjoyed his conversation.
His only “chemo” complaint so far is a headache and a little tiredness - oh, for that to continue!
